AZIMUTH H612 clinching press was built in 2021 in Canada by Azimuth
Press. The machine is used for the mechanical joining of components
made of thin sheet metal, providing an alternative to spot welding.
Clinching enables the creation of a durable joint without the need for
screws or rivets, while preserving the material’s anti-corrosion
coating. As a result, the H612 clinching machine is suitable for the
production of ventilation ducts and other components of ventilation
systems.
The AZIMUTH H612 is designed for machining mild steel with a thickness
between 0,3 mm and 1,2 mm. The process begins by placing the sheet
metal between the punch and the die. The punch applies pressure to the
material, causing localised deformation. Under the pressure, the sheet
metal is displaced and formed within the die, creating a
characteristic mechanical interlock between the two layers. Once the
punch retracts, a permanent mechanical joint is formed. This solution
enables fast, repeatable joining, making the machine suitable for
serial production.
